What's your opinion about this video? Is this the real level of English in Spain/Catalonia or are they exaggerating?

Hello! I really think that the level of English in Spain is not very high. Lots of people who already speak, but are more people not know nothing or almost nothing.
Yes, I practiced English. During the summer I made some English classes. See you!
Firt, I think that, this is not the level of English in Catalunya. There are people who don't know nothing about English, of course, that's because they don't want to learn, like in the rest of Spain. They are not exaggerating to nothing.
Asking the other question: yes, I practiced my Engish because I helped one or two tourist in Vilanova. Also, in July, I went to Ireland, one of the most cold and rainy country. I enjoyed my days there and I learn a lot! See you on Monday, Ana!
Oh my god! This video is unbelievable, but obviously it exists. I think that there are more old people that they don't speak English than young people. A lot of children leave their studies when they are 16 years old, that's why some of them have invented a new language: "Spaninglish". In my opinion, this video doesn't show the real level of English, because now it is one of the most important languages and a lot of people speak English well.
During the holidays, I did English lessons. I spoke English with one of my friends too.
I've been impressed with this video. I don't think this is really the level of English in Catalonia but it's clear that there so many different levels. We must also say that some people of the video are old so many of them haven't had the opportunity to learn English. I don't think that they are exaggerating because there are a lot of people aren't interested in study English, they don't understand that is the language of the future. Finally, I haven’t practiced English during my holidays, that’s why I don’t remember a lot of things. See you
Wow! I do understand that old people cannot speak English because there were more important things than learning this language when they were young. But do not understand the reason why young people can't. I mean, English is the language of the future and the present and many of them just don't care about it. I have to say that there are a lot of people who do care about it, so this video does not represent all the society in Spain or Catalonia.
As for the other question, I did practice English. I went 3 weeks to California to practice English with a language organization.
I also have been impressed when I see the video, statistically the English level is very low but do not let myself be guided by how speaks older people who have not had many facilities like schools, but what if I feel stronger is the young people who appears in the video and honestly I do not see a language as difficult ... And answering your second question, I have not the oportunity to go 1 month to London or America and I think is the best way to learn, but when I went traveling I had to communicate and thanks to my parents that they made me go to an academy I have an academy to talk to foreign people.
I think that the level of English in Spain and Catalonia is low but the video is exaggerated. The video shows the fun way some people speak English. I think the video isn't very true because people often talk to others because it makes us laugh and it is what the audience wants to see on TV programs of this type.
As for the other question, I didn't practiced English this summer.
First, I think that this is not the level in Spain and Catalonia. They are exaggerating a little bit because this is a program for having fun. It's obvious that old people like our grand-parents and some of our parents didn't study English, so it's obvious they don't have the level that we can have. But there's also a lot of people of our age that don't have any idea of English. I think that's because the think it's not important or interesting. They have the wrong idea, because English is one of the most important languages at the moment all over the world. Aswering the second question, I practiced a little bit of English reading, watching films an helping some tourists. See you tomorrow.
I don't agree Júlia, I think that the level in Spain or Catalonia is very low. We only have to observe our president. Is a person who represents us in the world. Nowadays, the international lenguaje is english, and the person who represents us has to go with a traductor. What image are we giving to the world? But isn't all the image, what about general culture?. In other countries, people who wants to see films on tv, have to see them in original version with subtitles. This way they learn english. Instead here we have tv programs like salvame or la noria. I think that the real problem isn't only speak english, i think that the root of the problem is the culture in general and the passivity to learn and progress. See you
That's a great discussion! I like it, dear students, with your different points of view. Remember, discussion is a false friend, to discuss is to consider a subject, especially by talking about it with others (it's not discutir).
In my opinion this video is an axaggeration.There are many people that don't speak English very well, but there are other many people that speak English very well. In conclusion, there are differents levels of speak it in Spain. I didn't practice English at holidays.
Well, i don't really know if the level of english in Spain/Catalonia . Because i've been here for only a full year, but from what i saw and my experiences i would think that the level is pretty poor though not a lost cauze .
For the second question. I normally spend a lot of time at home using english , meaning that even in the summer i've practiced a lot, thought i still need to improve.
I agree with David, this video is an exaggeration. But i'ts true that many people don't know english, but they don't want to learn neither.Also there are people who knows a lot of English and this is good for them because English is an important language nowadays.
I am lucky cause this summer i could go to London and i practised a little bit talking to english people and listening to them. A nice experience.
I think it isn't exaggeration because it is an older man and do not know much english... in my holidays i sing whith my friends, english songs and i read blogs.
Wow! This video is so funny, i'm laughing out loud right now. But well, I think that is true that there's people with this level (we can realise it watching the video!) but it's the lowest level in Spain, I guess (I think that if they weren't the worst English-speakers they wouldn't appear in this video). On the other side, we know that the population is really heterogenical so there's people who speaks a really perfect Oxford English and people who don't have a clue and can only say "my name is _______". Anyway, I find the video funny and positive to know that my English isn't as bad as it could.
I think this video is very exaggerated. because I think most the people that English speaking Spanish and Catalan but I think there are more people with problems with English because they never have an interest in languages. I have not practiced English in the summer because I had no time. :P
Really, that level of English is horrible. I know that mine isn't very good, but I think that the English we can see in the video is of very low culture.
About my English practise on holiday, I did while I was staying in London and York for two weeks.
